Earlier this year (before "the 'rona" took over our lives) I had a fantastic photo shoot with the folks at Knowledge to Practice. K2P helps our docs stay current on the latest medical training and research (For example, did you know that gargling with bleach is not actually good for respiratory tract infections? Nor sadly is vodka.)
They were a really nice bunch of folks to work with and I was very happy with their headshots. After the portraits, I photographed their team in action to give them some extra imagery for their webpage.
A few months ago I had the pleasure of photographing this year's crop of McLarty Scholars down in Washington, DC.
Photographs at the Capitol are a staple of any DC photographer's diet, and I've shot enough of them to pay the mortgage for a few years. Still, the shots can be tricky to pull off, especially if you bring lighting. Set up in the wrong spot and you're liable to be run off by the Capitol Police, trampled by a horde of tourists from Wichita, or be set upon by a boorish gang of anarcho-syndicalists!
I had a really fun shoot the other day with the gang at Abovo42.com, a Baltimore-based internet startup. In addition to my normal headshots, they also wanted to shoot portraits that showed their playful side. So everyone in the office brought props related to their hobbies -- golf clubs, soccer balls, beer brewing equipment, etc. -which we used for a bit of photo improv.
I haven't worked for anyone else in over 15 years, but if I did Abovo42 would be my kind of company. See the guy in the "Save Ferris" shirt? That's Sean the CEO!

Diana got in touch with me recently looking for portraits to help launch her new career as a real estate agent. She was undecided about doing environmental/location portraits or studio headshots, so I made it easy said let's just do both!
Photographing on location is a lot of fun, and the choice of background can obviously be a big help with telling someone's story. It can also come with unique challenges, like the humidity and wind ruining your good hair day, not to mention rain, excessive cold or wild squirrel attacks.
It has been an busy month here at Charm City Headshots, and I thought I'd toss a couple of my favorite recent headshots up on the blog. I've been photographing entrepreneurs and executives, teachers, students, accountants and actors. I even had a session with a large and intimidating MMA fighter (He is actually incredibly nice, though I'm still relieved he was happy with his photos!)
